Since 1992, founders Mike and Doug have shared two passions: great music and a love for breakfast. After 15 years of following the Dave Matthews Band across the country and enduring one underwhelming brunch after another, they realized something was missing—a restaurant that truly celebrated the art of breakfast.

So, on October 22, 2007, The Egg Bistro was hatched in Chesapeake, Virginia. Built on the belief that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they set out to create a menu filled with fresh, inventive dishes that redefined what brunch could be.

They proudly source the freshest local ingredients from Virginia and North Carolina whenever possible. They also serve their own locally roasted coffee, bringing bold flavor and a personal touch to every cup. The team is always cooking up something new—whether it's creative dishes or playful twists on classic cocktails. With six rotating taps of local craft beer, award-winning Bloody Marys, and mimosas that pack a punch, the bar is just as lively as the kitchen.
